Our take

JumpCloud is a sensible choice for small and mid-size companies that want one cloud console for user identity, SSO, MFA and device management across Mac, Windows and Linux. Enterprises deeply invested in Microsoft Entra and Intune will find less reason to switch.

One console for users and devices

JumpCloud began as a cloud-hosted directory, an alternative to running Active Directory servers, and has grown into what it sells as a unified IT management platform covering identity, access and devices.1 In practice that means a single console to create users, push them to SaaS apps through single sign-on, require MFA, manage and lock down laptops across operating systems, and run password management.2

IT teams use it to replace a separate directory, SSO product, MDM tool and password manager with one vendor.

Per-user prices on the website

JumpCloud publishes its prices. Device management and MDM costs $9 per user per month billed annually or $11 billed monthly; SSO with MFA and the password manager costs $11 annually or $13 monthly; and device plus identity management costs $13 annually or $15 monthly.2 Add-ons such as remote access, SaaS management and premium support run $2 to $4 per user per month.2 A 30-day free trial includes 24x7 premium support, and accounts billing more than $2,000 a month can pay by invoice.2 Suspended users are still billed, which raises costs for companies with seasonal staff.2

Colorado roots and acquisitions

Rajat Bhargava and Larry Middle founded JumpCloud in Boulder, Colorado, in December 2012.3 Bhargava is CEO. In September 2021 it announced a $159 million Series F led by Sapphire Ventures at a $2.56 billion valuation and said it had nearly 5,000 customers.1 When the round closed in October 2021 it totaled $225 million, lifting the valuation to $2.625 billion, according to the company's counsel, Cooley.4

Since then it has bought Stack Identity (announced in January 2025), VaultOne for privileged access management, Breez and Brazil-based MacSolution, and it launched a corporate venture arm, JumpCloud Ventures.56789 No new equity round has been disclosed since 2021.

Against the Microsoft stack

The most common alternative is the Microsoft stack, Entra ID for identity and Intune for devices, which many companies already license. JumpCloud manages Mac, Windows and Linux devices from the same console and does not need an on-premises domain.2 Silverfort protects an existing Active Directory, while JumpCloud replaces one.

Companies that need less, or more

Large enterprises with mature Microsoft licensing and dedicated identity teams usually get more from deepening that investment. Companies with only a handful of users may find a password manager plus their email provider's built-in SSO is enough.

Where it helps

JumpCloud has solved my needs by consolidating what I was previously using into one solution.

Karsh Trivedi, Security Engineer at PayatuPeerSpot review, July 10, 2026

JumpCloud has given us a much more secure environment, and as we move toward a SOC 2 Type 2, having JumpCloud in place made it very easy to gather the evidence we needed to prove that we were doing what we should be doing.

Where it falls short

I think the reporting in JumpCloud could be improved as it takes a while to pull the exact data you need sometimes.
